Infected eczema
About eczema
Eczema is a chronic, inflammatory skin disorder resulting in redness, itching and uncomfortable lesions that can become scaly or crusted. There is no single cause of eczema, but it is thought to be a mixture of genetic and environmental factors acting together or at different times. Patient education is important, and people living with eczema are encouraged by healthcare professionals to use emollients (moisturisers) and to avoid irritants and excessive heat.
Treating infected eczema
Eczema can become infected. Treatments for infected eczema include topical antibiotics which can be combined with corticosteroids.
